BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE

‘WARNING FROM POLICE’

THIS APPLIES TO BOTH WOMEN AND MEN

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE–

NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)’

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating… You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into Reverse.

When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the carjackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off.

They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

If you see a piece of paper stuck to your back window, just drive away. Remove the paper later. And be thankful that you read this. I hope you will tell this to friends and family, especially to women.

A purse contains all kinds of personal information and identification documents, and you certainly do NOT want this to fall into the wrong hands.

UPDATE August 28, 2009

Dear Readers I have received a couple comments about this not being a true problem and want you to know the reason that I have decided to leave it on my website.  I think it has more to do with awareness of your surroundings in general.  I find that I become very preoccupied with what I need to get finished and do not always pay attention to things around me.  With that thought in mind I posted the above precaution.

If you read the comments below this article you will see that I have posted the ones that have directed me to snopes for verification of these type of issues and also the anger I have received because I have not taken the post down.

My feeling is that I want you to be more aware of what is going on around you period.

Thank you for letting me know that. I feel that we all need to be more careful when getting into our cars. Often we are distracted and not focused on people around us.

Although this is not a known problem I feel it just brings awareness to make you think – better safe than sorry.

You are playing into the hands of creeps who want to spread an atmosphere of fear. This report has been circulating on the internet since 2004 and is completely FALSE. Please always check urban legends, warnings, fearmongers and worse on http://www.snopes.com and take down this warning (unless you are sleazily using it to drive traffic to you site!)

    Ann,
Thank you for commenting on the paper stuck on the back window post. I have posted the comments that I received telling me that the article is not true.

My purpose is to make people think a little more before busily going about their ways.

I have no desire to drive traffic with this and I resent the sleazy reference. What harm is this post doing? Making people be a little more careful when in the parking lot?

There are millions of websites that post items that may not be completely true or have the truth stretched. I am just trying to get people to think about their surroundings and their personal safety.
Thank you though for your concern and for taking the time to express your opinion.

Just because it’s posted here doesn’t mean it’ll be the new crime wave or that some schmuck probably already didn’t think this one up.

Readers, relax from the initial fear reflex; read between the lines on this one and let it be another reminder to be vigilant where ever you may roam.

If fear is the only means to get you to be safer, then I hope your everyone who loves you scares the sh** out of you daily.
