Help requested for military families in need…

Help requested for military families in need. A new local American Red Cross Chapter begins Operation Uplift.

A very good friend of ours pointed out an article in his local newspaper. It really strikes a spot in our hearts so we thought we would include a link here in our blog.

Here is the link if you would like to read it: Help requested for military families in need

Sponsored by the local York/Adams County American Red Cross for service families in this local area of Pennsylvania.

It looks like a great idea for a nationwide program. And truly could take one burden off the shoulders of the soldiers… after all they have protecting our safety and security to think about along with returning home safe and uninjured.
U.S. Army Reserve Col. Craig Trebilcock, a board member and chairman of the chapter’s Services to Armed Forces task force, said help for soldiers and their families is crucial.

Having served in Bosnia in the late 1990s and Iraq in 2003 to 2004, Trebilcock said he knows first-hand that the effectiveness of U.S. troops is directly connected to morale.

“Everybody is pressed by the economy,” he said. “(Soldiers’) families are being absolutely squeezed and crushed by this economy.”

Troops shouldn’t have to worry whether their family can buy food, he said.

People helping people seems to be the cry heard all across America today. The popularity of the tea parties organized to send our government a message and neighbors stepping in to help other neighbors in need gives all of us pride in being Americans.

Operation Uplift is just the beginning. Think about all the possibilities and what we as individuals could do to help others in need. Tell us what you think?
